Great tour of history and cotton. Learned a lot! A must stop if you aren't from these parts
Lynette Tanner and her family have created a real gem of an experience. Frogmore Plantation is the most thorough and authentic plantation tour that I have encountered. The detail of the restored buildings and grounds is impressive. But perhaps most impressive is Lynette's attention to conveying the entire picture of plantation life, with a special emphasis on the slave experience. From the daily work routine, to clothing, bedding, diet, culture, Lynette goes to great pain to respect and convey this important story. She's also authored authored a book on this topic. But the tour also includes the cotton industry as a whole, as the growing, harvesting, preparation, packaging and transport cotton are thoroughly explained. Take your time and enjoy the property. It's worth it.
So cool, you get to pick cotton. But the tour guide try to down play how slavery really was. She should not try to re- write history.
Great tour of the plantation and Function. Real insight into that life. Get Rhonda for the tour.
Frogmore plantation captures the essence of pre-civil war plantation life. The authenticity of the buildings and artifacts has no equal. The Tanner's vision and creativity are to be commended as they have provided the opportunity for a learning experience for all.
